Walkbreak Privacy Policy
Effective date: 23 October 2026
Walkbreak is a run-walk training app for iPhone and Apple Watch, made by Tom Graulus ("we"). This policy explains what the app does with your information.
The short version
- We don't collect any data. The app has no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. It contains no third-party code that collects data.
- Your data stays on your devices. Your plan progress, settings and run history are stored on your iPhone and Apple Watch. With your permission, your runs are also saved to Apple Health.
- We never see your health or location data. Neither one is sent to us or to anyone else.
What the app stores, and where
| Data | What it is used for | Where it is kept | |---|---|---| | Plan progress, cue settings, units, chosen plan | Showing your next session and your preferences | On your iPhone. The next session and your cue settings are copied to your Apple Watch. | | Run history: date, duration, distance, session name, whether you finished it, and whether you ran with the Watch or the iPhone | Your history list and plan progress | On your iPhone | | Runs recorded on Apple Watch | Sent from your Watch to your own iPhone so they show up in your history | Sent directly between your paired devices through Apple's Watch connection. It does not pass through our servers. |
This data is part of your device's normal backups (iCloud Backup or a computer backup), depending on your own settings. Apple handles those backups. We have no access to them.
Apple Health
If you allow it, Walkbreak uses Apple Health as follows:
- It writes each run as a running workout, with its time, distance and pauses. On Apple Watch, the workout also includes the heart rate and active energy that your Watch measures during the run.
- It reads your heart rate and distance on Apple Watch during a run, to show them on screen, and it reads workouts.
Health data is used only to provide these features. It is never used for advertising or marketing, never sold, never shared with third parties and never sent to us. Walkbreak does not store Health data in iCloud. Apple Health's own syncing is controlled by you and by Apple.
You can change or withdraw Health access at any time in the Health app (your profile › Apps › Walkbreak) or in Settings › Health › Data Access & Devices. Workouts that are already saved stay in Apple Health until you delete them there.
Location
Walkbreak asks for your location only while you use the app, and uses it only during a run that you start:
- to measure the distance and pace of that run, which also decides when sessions set by distance end;
- on iPhone, to keep your run-walk cues on time while the screen is locked. iOS shows a location indicator while this is happening.
Location updates stop when the run ends. Your route and coordinates are not saved. The app keeps only the total distance of the run. You can turn location off at any time in Settings › Privacy & Security › Location Services. Runs then still work, but without distance.
Spoken cues and audio
Cues are spoken on your device with Apple's built-in speech. The app does not use your microphone and does not record anything.
Purchases
The one-time unlock is sold and processed by Apple through the App Store. We never receive your name, Apple Account or payment details. The app checks your purchase on the device to unlock the plans.
Crash reports and analytics
The app contains no analytics or crash-reporting code of its own or from third parties. If you choose to share analytics with app developers in your device settings, Apple may give us anonymous, aggregated crash reports and usage statistics. Apple's privacy policy governs that sharing.
Children
Walkbreak is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children.
Your rights
Under the GDPR, the UK GDPR and similar laws, you have the right to access, correct and delete your personal data. Because we don't collect or hold any data about you, there is nothing for us to hand over or delete. You control everything yourself:
- delete a single run in the app's History by swiping it;
- delete all of the app's data by deleting the app from your iPhone and Apple Watch;
- delete saved workouts in the Health app.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will post the new version at this address with a new effective date. If the app ever starts collecting data, we will say so here and in the App Store listing before it does.
